Meet Seun Adetayo

Dr. Adetayo is a board-certified plastic surgeon with additional specialized fellowship training in Pediatric Plastic Surgery and Craniofacial surgery. She obtained her Medical Degree from The University of Chicago. She combines her creativity, compassion, meticulous surgical skills, and cutting-edge techniques to help restore form and function to her patients who are affected by birth deformities or acquired injuries. She is passionate about bringing a smile back to a child’s face and hope back into an affected life. Dr. Adetayo has served as Chief of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and Professor of Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She previously resided in Upstate New York, where she founded and established the first-ever regional multidisciplinary Cleft-Craniofacial Center in Northeastern New York and served as the Director of the program. Under her leadership, the program received recognition by the ACPA as a nationally designated center caring for children with cleft and craniofacial conditions. Her creativity and versatility drew her into plastic surgery, where she could combine the art and science of medicine to restore normal form and function back to her patients needing surgical reconstruction. She treats conditions such as cleft lips, cleft palate, craniosynostosis, vascular anomalies, and other craniofacial and body deformities resulting either from birth differences or acquired injuries. She is passionate about using her artful approach and keen medical and surgical skills to improve the quality of life of her patients.

Dr. Adetayo’s clinical acumen and superior surgical outcomes drives her to strive to provide the best care for her patients and their families. She founded the first-ever Pediatric Plastic Surgery Section at Albany Medical Center, as well as the first regional Cleft-Craniofacial Center in Northeastern New York which received national designation. She has also served as Chair of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska and Professor of Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she created a comprehensive service line for Pediatric Plastic Surgery diagnoses and treatment options at the Children's Hospital.

Her published works include peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal, Annals of Plastic Surgery, Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, and Journal of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics, published abstracts, and book chapters.

She has authored book chapters in the latest edition of Comprehensive Cleft Care, one of the few leading authoritative volumes on Cleft and Craniofacial care, and the Family Edition to Comprehensive Cleft Care, a guide edition for patients and their families.

Community

Dr. Adetayo has served in various leadership roles including Co-President of the University of Chicago REMEDYCuba Medical Aid Mission, Chairperson of the Long Beach Rescue Mission, Co-President of the Phi Delta Epsilon Premedical Society, and Coordinator of the Chicago Local Chapter Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention program. She has been involved in medical trips to other countries including, Cuba, Haiti, Nigeria, and Peru. She works with international organizations including Rotary International and The Smile Train to improve surgical outcomes for individuals in cranial and facial reconstruction.
